Beacon Place's Summer Lunch Program is designed to provide lunch and day camp activities. As part of the Backpack Program each Thursday, every child leaves with a backpack of food including enough for six meals on the weekends.

Weekend Navigator is designed to provide both a basic and advanced navigation course that includes the use of GPS and charts, parallel rulers, dividers, and compass to insure safety if your electronics go out. It provides students with the rudiments of navigation by using GPS along with the back-up skill of navigation using charts, plotting tools, and dead reckoning. The intent is to provide the student with a solid foundation with emphasis on technique without a blind reliance on electronics.

As part of the Museum’s commitment to ensuring that every child has access to a high-quality children’s Museum experience, Kohl Children’s Pop-Up Museum brings exhibits and the education team directly to communities in Northern Lake County. The Pop-Up Museum returns to Waukegan for April, May and June! The pop-up includes Imagination Playground: exploring construction using oversize building blocks; Airmazing: experimenting with air flow, wind tubes, and Bernoulli blowers; Science & You: explore science instruments and health science; Art Studio and Reading Nook; Learn at Home: fun activities to take home, to continue hands-on learning beyond the Pop-Up. Let's Celebrate Mom and create an experience that she'll never forget! You + Mom will enjoy learning the basics of candle making including overviews of how to calculate fragrance load, how to use liquid dye, the art of pouring, and the curing process. You'll blend your own custom scent, melt + pour your candles! We will have custom peony rose topper that will be placed on top of your candle (see pics). While the candles cool we'll mingle and play some games. Workshop is led by Jackie founder of Luz Apothecary. You can choose from several candle dressings like, crystals, shimmer, colors, and herbs/flowers. Mom will receive a gift from Luz Apothecary. Learn how to properly care for your candles.
