Join 7th Ward Ald. Michael Donnenwirth for a Dumpster Drop and Collection, including tires off their rims and electronics collected for recycling, Residents are responsible for putting items into the dumpsters themselves. Items NOT accepted include appliances, yard waste/tree trunks, liquids, concrete/brick/stone/rocks, hazardous waste, flammable materials, batteries, car parts, paint/stain/lacquer, or railroad ties.

Kohl Children’s Museum free Pop-Up includes high-quality interactive STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) elements: • Imagination Playground: Explore engineering and construction with large blue building blocks. • I Am a Naturalist: Use science to explore elements of the great outdoors, including shell collections, fossils, and insect specimens. • Motion Quest: Experiment with using air pressure, gravity, and gears to make things move with out actually touching them. • Art Studio • Book Nook

The Waukegan Park District will host several GO Waukegan walks this year. The outdoor walks are free events intended to encourage the community to walk at least thirty minutes every day. In addition to today, the GO Waukegan walks will be held on the following dates: Winter Wonder Walk on Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 4pm to 5pm in Downtown Waukegan* *The Winter Wonder Walk will be held in conjunction with the City of Waukegan’s Tree Lighting Ceremony hosted by Waukegan Main Street. Additional events will be held as part of GO WAUKEGAN, including the George Bridges 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, September 16th and Turkey Trot on Saturday, November 11th. Registration is not required to participate in the walks. In case of inclement weather, walks will be postponed.

The Waukegan Park District and Sugar Skulls Xilotl (formerly Academia Cultural Xilotl) are partnering to celebrate Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) with a free community celebration. The event will feature altar exhibits, art vendors, food, music, dance presentations, and sugar skull workshops.

When the humble schoolteacher Ichabod Crane vies for the hand of the beautiful Katrina Van Tassel, the townsfolk might protest, but it is ultimately the Horseman who will decide Ichabod's fate.
