Join 2nd Ward Ald. Guzman for a Dumpster Drop and Collection, including tires off their rims and electronics collected for recycling, Residents are responsible for putting items into the dumpsters themselves. Items NOT accepted include appliances, yard waste/tree trunks, liquids, concrete/brick/stone/rocks, hazardous waste, flammable materials, batteries, car parts, paint/stain/lacquer, or railroad ties.

Kohl Children’s Museum is bringing their free Pop-Up Museum back to Waukegan after a successful run at Belvidere Mall this past Spring. Starting October 4th and running through December 2nd, this free, family fun cannot be matched! Wednesdays from 5 to 7pm and Saturdays from 8:30am to 1:30pm.

Come help beautify Waukegan by cleaning up garbage on our own downtown/lakefront highway! Gather at North Shore Printers for gloves, bags, etc, and disperse from there.

Bring the whole family to celebrate Day of the Dead by decorating your own sugar skull to take home in this workshop. Workshop facilitated by Maria Calderon of Sugar Skulls Xilotl. Supplies are limited.

Dandelion Art Coalition is strengthening the community together! They will begin introducing new creative outlets to support our community's mental health and wellbeing; in their safe, creative and non-judgmental space to process experiences and emotions. This fundraiser is meant to help support this initiative, help reduce the cost of general services offered to the community and to increase awareness. At this special fundraiser guests will participate in short service sessions such as Yoga, Meditation, Peace Circles, and Mindfulness Art. Meet professionals, learn about healing remedies, and experience creative wellness for a good cause while enjoying healthy snacks and refreshments! Children age 5 and up may attend with an adult. Tickets are required Bring yoga mat or rent. May pay at the door with registration. Public parking available on Genesee Street and Water Street. Interested in being a sponsor and donating? AMO Athletics is having its first HOMECOMING DANCE! Let your kids (ages 9 - 14, 8th grade) come out and have a good time! Refreshments will be sold. Children do not have to play for AMO to attend but there will be a $10 cover for non-AMO kids. All AMO cheer and football players will be free. Dressy or nice casual. No hoodies, no sweats pants.

A Safe Place announces its 14th Annual Unmask the Violence Gala will take place In Person on Saturday, October 14th, starting at 6pm with a Cocktail Hour: Music, Drinks, & Networking. The Gala supports the efforts of A Safe Place, the only comprehensive nonprofit agency solely focused on programs and services for survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking and their children in Lake County. In 2022, A Safe Place served over 30,000 individuals through our comprehensive services, serving both adults and children, who come to us uncertainty and fear. With your support, they are able to provide our clients the tools needed to find their voices and path towards their new journey.
