October 26, 2020, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM @ Mano a Mano Family Resource Center
While the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted every person in some way, Latinos and other people of color in the US have been disproportionately impacted. While Latinos make up 22% of Lake County, IL's total population, we make up more than 40% of the total positive COVID-19 cases and only 14% of the total tests performed. These differences and severe consequences of the pandemic on Latino families in our community are disturbing, but unfortunately not surprising. In fact, this disproportionate impact is actually a reflection of existing health inequities that have been exacerbated by the pandemic. Join Mano a Mano with guest Dr. Ngozi Ezike, Director of the Illinois Department of Public Health for a conversation on health inequities, the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on Latinos, and how IDPH and the community are responding. This is the first event in Mano a Mano's "This is Us. Asi Somos." series celebrating Lake County's Latino Community during national Latino Heritage Month.
