Per the Tree Preservation and Landscape Ordinance, in issuing a permit authorizing the removal of a tree or in establishing the replacement requirement for a tree, the size of each replacement tree shall be no less than three inches in diameter at 54" of the ground (also called DBH) at the time of planting. The location and species of the replacement tree shall be approved by the Director of Planning & Zoning. The Director may waive or reduce the requirement for planting a replacement tree(s). In the case of such waiver or reduction, an allowance is made for a cash-in-lieu-of contribution of $125 for every caliper inch which is not replaced. Replacement of trees will be based on the “inch for inch” definition in the ordinance. Noxious or restricted trees shall be replaced on an inch for two inch basis.
