Waukegan Mayor Ann B. Taylor

From the Desk of

Mayor Ann B. Taylor

Happy New Year, Waukegan!

It’s hard to believe that it’s already 2023. As I look back on 2022, I continue to be filled with gratitude to be serving as your mayor. Together, we are all working to move Waukegan forward and show the world why we are called the City of Progress. Let’s carry that spirit every day in the new year!

When it comes to New Year’s resolutions, I’d like to ask everyone to make it a point to shop local as much as possible this year. Patronizing local businesses puts money right back into our own neighborhoods, supporting our hardworking entrepreneurs and providing homegrown jobs for our residents.

I’d like to extend my gratitude to those who participated in the 24th annual Polar Bear Plunge to benefit Special Recreation Services of Northern Lake County. Almost 350 people braved the cold New Year’s Day to support this wonderful cause!

Lastly, the City is producing the first edition of a new biannual newsletter that will be mailed to all residents. Inside, you’ll find important messages from City departments, a directory of City staff and council members, community resources, and more. Be sure to check your mailbox in the coming weeks!

Thank you to all who made 2022 a great success in Waukegan. I cannot wait to see what 2023 has in store!
