From the Desk of Mayor Ann B.TaylorHello, Waukegan, and happy June! I am thrilled that summer officially begins in just a few days. The sun is staying up longer, children are done with school, and some of our most cherished summer activities are kicking off.
Thank you to everyone who has made our summer events calendar a success already. I was so happy to see hundreds of people out enjoying Lake County PrideFest, PrideDrive, and the first installments of the Waukegan Park District’s Yoga at the Beach and the Waukegan Public Library’s Summer Courtyard Concert series.
There’s more where that came from! Just a few of our upcoming events include the Juneteenth Festival of Lake County, our annual Fourth of July Fireworks display, and Scoop.
Waukegan has so much to offer in the summer, from the arts to festivals to our beautiful beach. It’s truly a season to remember how fortunate we are to live in a city with such incredible opportunities and resources. I am looking forward to seeing everyone around town soaking up the sun while it’s here.
