On June 27th, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) held a community meeting for the general public in Waukegan to discuss the impacts and regulation of coal ash. The meeting included presentations from the EPA about coal ash and information on resources available to the community. The meeting also included a listening session, during which community members had an opportunity to voice their thoughts related to coal ash and their community.
Now, the EPA is soliciting written public comments on Waukegan Generating Station Part A Proposed Decision. Written comments can be completed online, mailed, or hand delivered on or before Friday, August 4th. All comments should be identified by Docket ID No. EPA-HQ-OLEM-2023-0209. Public comments made during the June 27th meeting will not submitted to the docket. If you made public comments, submit them in written form for consideration.
