[ARCHIVED] Stay at Home Executive Order

Gov JB Pritzker

Governor JB Pritzker has issued a “Stay at Home” Executive Order ( ), so what does that mean for you? “Stay at Home” means exactly that – take to heart staying at home to flatten the growing curve of COVID-19 cases. As the Governor said, “… be good members of our community and keep others safe.”

Essential city services such as police, fire/EMS, public works, water service and waste collection will continue without interruption. Here are the things you can do as needed:

  • Go to grocery stores
  • Pick up medications pharmacies
  • Go to medical appointments
  • Care for a relative or friend
  • Take a walk/Walk your pet
  • Practice social distancing at all times
  • Wash your hands regularly

The following will be open:

  • Food stores – grocery stores, convenience stores, food banks, stores selling alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages, carry-out and delivery from restaurants, delivery from grocery stores
  • Medical institutions
  • Banks
  • Pharmacies
  • Gas stations
  • Hardware stores
  • Laundromats/Laundry services

Many City-related functions can be accessed through our website Additionally, City staff will be remotely picking up voicemail messages regularly and returning calls as possible.

The City administration knows this is a trying time, but it will be made better by all of us staying home as much as possible.

El gobernador JB Pritzker ha emitido una orden ejecutiva de "quedarse en casa" (, qué significa eso para usted "Quedarse en casa" significa exactamente eso: tenga en cuenta quedarse en casa para aplanar la curva creciente de los casos de COVID-19.
