    The Waukegan Park District and the City of Waukegan present an Earth Day Celebration in beautiful Bowen Park! Join us at 6pm outside of the Jack Benny Center for the Arts for a drum circle! At 7pm, view the documentary "Straws" in the theatre at the Jack Benny Center for the Arts. “With colorful straw history animation narrated by Oscar winner Tim Robbins, STRAWS (30 minutes) leaves audiences with a clear understanding of the problems caused by plastic pollution & empowers individuals to be part of the solution.” The Documentary will be followed by a discussion, on single use plastics, alternatives, and how to properly recycle items in Lake County.     The Lake County Stormwater Management Commission (SMC) invites the public to attend the Lake Michigan Watershed Plan kick-off meeting. The Lake Michigan Watershed Plan will cover the portions of Lake County and seven ravines in northern Cook County that drain to Lake Michigan. The planning process will run from 2019-2020. The Lake Michigan Watershed-Based Plan will identify practices, projects, and programs that can be implemented by stakeholders to reduce pollution and flood damage and protect natural resources. At the kickoff meeting, the background, scope, and timetable for the watershed plan will be presented.

    Waukegan Public Schools will host four informational sessions aimed at gathering feedback on the District’s new Capital Improvement Plan. The District's Capital Improvement Plan is a long-range, comprehensive road-map detailing proposed facility improvements in District 60. The 10-year plan provides specific steps for addressing infrastructure needs from operational and financial standpoints. The plan will be presented and feedback solicited at each meeting.
