SEMI ANNUAL ELEVATOR INSPECTIONS are required by the State of Illinois for all existing passenger elevators, freight elevators, escalators, vertical platform lifts (VPL), dumbwaiters, staircase and wheelchair lifts in privately owned residences and businesses within the City of Waukegan.

$75.00 per inspection is charged for each elevator twice a year. Failed inspections are charged at $75.00 per inspection for each elevator per occurrence. Any elevator that fails twice in one year may be subject to fines of up to $750.00 per day per City Ordinance and may be reported to the Office of the State Fire Marshal. Any unpaid invoices for businesses will be reported to the Licensing Department.
