Established Party:  If a candidate seeks to run for alderperson of a municipality, then the candidate's petition for nomination must contain at least the number of signatures equal to 0.5% of the qualified primary electors of his or her party of the ward. In the first primary election following redistricting of wards or trustee districts of a municipality or the initial establishment of wards or districts, a candidate's petition for nomination must contain the number of signatures equal to at least 0.5% of the total number of votes cast for the candidate of that political party who received the highest number of votes in the entire municipality at the last regular election at which an officer was regularly scheduled to be elected from the entire municipality, divided by the number of wards or districts. In no event shall the number of signatures be less than 25. (10 ILCS 5/7-10(e))

  • SIMULTANEOUS MUNICIPALITY PETITION – FILING NOTICE OF LOTTERY - established political party lottery will be held on Tuesday, December 06, 2022 at 10:00 AM in City of Waukegan Council Chambers, 100 N. Martin Luther King Jr, Ave - 2nd Floor, for conducting the lottery when two or more petitions are received simultaneously for the same office: (a) as of the opening hour of the filing period, November 21, 2022; and/or (b) within the last hour of the filing period, November 28, 2022 [10 ILCS 5/7-12(6)]

NOTE:  NOVEMBER 28, 2022  Last day for filing a Statement of Economic Interests with the Office of the Lake County Clerk, as required by the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act. The receipt must be filed on or before this date with the local election official or election authority who received the nomination papers.
