The Waukegan Police Department is constantly trying to keep up with the latest proven methods of policing. Many of these methods require investment of time and limited financial resources to implement. Through federal grants, donations, and the appropriated budget, we are able to focus our administrative efforts on getting the most for the City.
Special Projects are projects that require planning, investment, training, and manpower to put into place. The majority of our special projects require 3-6 months to implement.
The Waukegan Police Department, Lake County State's Attorney's Office, and the Zion Police Department have been selected as award recipients for the 2017 Edward J. Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant. Please see the PUBLIC NOTICE (DOCX) for further information.
