Bureau of Identification
The Bureau of Identification (B. of I.) is a department within the Records Division that classifies, compares and files all fingerprint cards and maintains all arrest files. The B. of I. fingerprints police applicants, civilian employees, liquor license and taxi applicants, Waukegan School District employees, and any other occupation requiring a background check.

Responsibilities carried by those in this department also entail:
• Sex Offender Registration
• Jail operation
• Maintain all mug shot and fingerprint cards

The employees in the Records / B of I are committed to fulfilling the mission and values of the Waukegan Police Department by providing excellent customer service and support to sworn personnel, courts, and the general public in the efficiency of recording and the dissemination of records.
