Patrol Division
The Waukegan Police Department Patrol Division provides the professional delivery of uniform police services and initial response to incidents and offenses.  This Division is headed by Commander Edgardo Navarro and consists of four shifts of officers working 12-hour tours of duty.

Patrol officers identify, analyze, and respond to circumstances that create problems requiring police action.  Patrol officers are responsible for proactively patrolling the streets and neighborhoods of Waukegan and preventing and responding to criminal activity.

The Patrol officer answers calls for service, takes the initial police report and collects evidence when necessary.  The Patrol Officer performs the entire spectrum of modern policing functions, including traffic accident investigation, fugitive apprehension, high crime area patrols, neighborhood watch, and misdemeanor criminal investigations.

The Patrol Division works closely with the Neighborhood Policing Unit, Gang Intelligence Unit, and the Criminal Investigations Division by providing intelligence, problem oriented policing approaches, and general manpower when needed.
