Patrol Division

The Waukegan Police Department Patrol Division provides professional policing services to the community by protecting citizens and property, preventing crime, enforcing laws, providing proactive police patrols, establishing trust, collaborating with the community and maintaining order. Our Department's main goal is to contribute to the quality of life in Waukegan.

There are four Patrol shifts working 12 hour shifts to provide 24/7 coverage.  Part of the evening shift is comprised of a “Power-shift” working 3:30 PM to 3:30 AM.  K-9 officers and Evidence Technicians are deployed on each shift as team members of the Patrol Division. Deputy Chief Gabriel Guzman heads the Patrol Division.

Patrol officers identify, analyze, and respond to emergency and non-emergency calls-for-service.  They are responsible for conducting the initial investigation when responding to a call for service.  In most cases, officers will be able to handle the call and resolve the problem.  If further investigation is required, the officer will write a report and forward it to the appropriate division for follow-up (Investigations, Traffic, Gangs/Narcotics, Neighborhood Policing, Code Enforcement, etc).
