    The US Coast Guard Auxiliary is the uniformed volunteer component of the US Coast Guard. Their mission is to promote and improve Recreational Boating Safety, to provide trained crews and facilities to augment the Coast Guard and to enhance safety and security of our ports, waterways, and coastal regions, To support Coast Guard operational, administrative, and logistical requirements. The Waukegan Coast Guard Auxiliary was started fifty years ago and are always looking for new volunteers.

  3. Waukegan's Civil War Sites Guided Walking Tour

    April 21, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Veterans Memorial Plaza

    On the walking tour - led by Ty Rohrer, Manager of Cultural Arts & the Waukegan History Musuem - you will learn the history of Waukegan relating to the time of the Civil War. The reactions to the start of the war, local war efforts, famous local soldiers as well as events leading up to the war. The Underground Railroad and Abraham Lincoln's visit will be highlighted. The tour lasts approximately 1.5 hours. Dress accordingly with comfortable walking shoes and bring something to drink. Tours may be cancelled due to inclement weather. This tour is part of the GO WAUKEGAN initiative.
